In one sentence
Reencuentro Venezuela is a free, non-profit humanitarian searcher that brings together, in one place, the reports of people missing and rescued after the June 24, 2026 earthquakes, and lets you search for a person by description or by photo (not just by name), with the help of artificial intelligence.
What makes it different (the story angle)
Almost every missing-person tool searches by exact name. But after a disaster, whoever finds someone often does not know their name: an unconscious adult in a hospital, a child who cannot give a surname, a disoriented elderly person. Name search fails exactly there.
Our approach is to search by description and by photo. By description: approximate age, build, clothing, marks, where and when the person was seen. And when there is a photo, facial similarity is added as an extra hint. The AI turns all of that into possible matches for a person to verify. It is the gap almost no one covers, and it is the reason the project exists.
How it works
- Brings together reports from several diaspora registries and public sources into a single searcher (without fragmenting the data).
- Uses AI (Google models) to structure each report and run a semantic search, combining filters (age, gender, place) with description similarity.
- If there is a photo, it is processed in our own infrastructure (photos never leave it and we use no third-party face services) to derive descriptive attributes and a facial-similarity signal. That signal is assistive: it helps rank candidates, it does not decide.
- Returns candidates to verify, always showing the source data and why they matched.
Ethical commitment (key for responsible reporting)
Please keep this in mind when publishing. These are the rules that define us:
- The AI never asserts a match. It only suggests candidates for a human to verify. We never say “we found your relative”; we say “these are possible matches to verify”.
- Facial similarity is a hint, not a verdict. When there are photos, we compare them to suggest possible matches, marked as inferred and always confirmed by a person. Photos are processed in our infrastructure, never leave it, and we use no third-party face services. It is not identity recognition.
- Dignity, without sensationalism. We are talking about people and families at their worst moment. We ask for a humane, careful tone, and for managing expectations honestly.
- We protect contact data. The contact details of whoever reports or searches do not appear on the pages or in search: they are revealed only on request, after an anti-bot check, rate-limited and logged. A person always confirms the match first. This blocks extortion scams.
Who is behind it
Reencuentro Venezuela is an initiative of Prometio Group, a software and AI team whose motto is “You Have the Vision. We Make It Real.”. We built this platform on a volunteer, non-profit basis: we apply to a humanitarian end the same AI capabilities we use in professional projects.
It is led by the founding team of Prometio Group:
